No one has ever accused me of writing quickly, and the gap between The Light, The Dark, and Ember Between and this novella is a perfect example. I like to hope, though, that readers will enjoy the result of my tortoise-style writing.
A blogger who requested an interview for The Apocalypse of Hagren Roose asked me to describe the book in no more than five words. Put succinctly: Nothing one does is unknown.
Ever wondered what your choices and decisions have in store for you?
Karma has its place in the scope of human beliefs, but karma extends principally to mortal life as we know it, applies to a conscious, sentient person. Push your imagination a bit: what might we be in for when we pass on?
The Apocalypse of Hagren Roose, coincidentally, is just such a story. Follow Hagren, a native son of a small town with an equally small collective mind. Hagren’s failure to step beyond the antiquated prejudices he grew up with have caused a rift between himself, his family, and everyone else around him. Hagren Roose has plenty to answer for — upon his answers rest his, and his family’s, future.
In Their Own Words
Nicklaus’ prose is stunning in this short novella, and gives the reader both pleasure in reading and pause for thought as the story unfolds.

The Apocalypse of Hagren Roose is a thought-provoking literary work . . . a fascinating story that will leave a lasting impression.

Nicklaus uses lyrical prose and vivid imagery to bring his story to life. The Apocalypse of Hagren Roose is a story knit together with thick strands of inspiration.
